Anthony (784)</B></div> <bR> <div> Crosby created a number of different cachets for the Susan B. Anthony issue.  Almost hidden in the Planty catalog (and certainly overlooked by most dealers and collectors) is that on some of the cachets for this issue and the Army-Navy series there are two versions of photos showing a night view of the U. S. There are no prominent balls of light. <B> </B></div> <div> <B>Type 2</B> - Building is wide.  Top tower is not visible.  No smears at right side or shading behind tower.  Very prominent balls of light in foreground of picture.  </div> <div> Based on these differences, it is clear that these are two distinct photos.  And if you look carefully, there is a mention of this difference on page 33 of Volume XI of the Planty Catalog.  (See the references in 793-22b.2 to the photo in 793-22c and in 793-22b.3 to the photo in 792-22d.) Consequently I have listed cachets with these photos as different varieties.
